Making Life’s Choices

The following is kind of an old joke, but I would like to use it to make a point. That point has nothing to do with the intelligence of blonde women. It is just the way the joke is written. A blonde and a brunette were watching the 11:00 news. There's a story about a guy jumping off a bridge. The blonde says to the brunette: "Hey, I bet ya $10 he doesn't jump." The brunette says okay, "I bet ya $10 he does." They watch the rest of the broadcast. The guy jumps and the blonde goes to give the brunette her money. The brunette says "I can't take your money, I saw the 10 o'clock news and they showed the same story." The Blonde says "So did I but I didn't think he would jump again.!!!"

There are certain courses of action that have almost guaranteed results. And yet time and time again I see people making the same poor choices. Unfortunately, sometimes I qualify as one of those “people”. It has been said by the early 20th century philosopher, George Santayana “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” While we should learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others, what is even more effective is not making the wrong choice in the first place. We have a ready source to provide us with the information that we need to avoid making those poor choices. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 1 Timothy 3:16-17

When making life’s choices, I would like to urge you to read the instruction book on life written by the Manufacturer who knows best how to live it. That book is the Bible.

God bless.
